Module 3.3 - The Color Beige

The color I chose is beige! The background of my website is "bisque" which is a pink/orange form of beige, allowing the color of the accents to shine through.

According to Color Psychology, beige is technically a variety of colors, but officially it's a cream hue with a warm tint.

I chose this color for the background of my website because I wanted a color that could be in the background and not steal from the rest of the colors, but also complement them well. A white background is a bit boring and almost clinical, but this allows some warmth for the viewer.

Recently, there have been studies showing that too much blue light coming from screens is not good for viewers' eyes. A lot of phones and monitors now have the option to turn down the blue light, or one can buy blue light glasses if they're staring at screens all day.

Using color theory, orange is the opposite of blue, making my light beige color easier on the viewers' eyes, and not giving off as much harsh blue light, making my funky webpage a safer space for people to spend lots of time perusing (which is my goal).

Website Examples

F. Miller Skincare
This website has a beige background so light it's almost white, but is still beige. It gives the website a clean feeling, which is ideal when looking for new skincare.
Brews and Grooves
This website merges music with alcohol, giving users a pairing of the two, and the beige is trustworthy.
Karst Stone Paper
This website uses a combination of both beige and other muted earthy colors to get their aesthetic across to the shopper. This company makes paper out of recycled stone, making their natural stone-esque colors work for their brand.
